General Manager Barossa Farmers Market

Our iconic farmers market in the magnificent and picturesque Barossa, is searching for an experienced General Manager to oversee, drive and lead the Farmers Market – an incorporated not for profit organisation.

Working with the Market Operations Manager, the primary responsibility of this position is to ensure the operation and management of the Market to achieves long-term viability of the weekly market.

Key duties include hospitality operations management; staff and stakeholder management; marketing and promotion; project management; financial management; governance, reporting and administration; and stakeholder engagement.

Experience, Knowledge and Qualifications

The ideal person for this role will likely have;

  • Tertiary qualifications in marketing and/or business
  • Demonstrated management experience.
  • Experience in hospitality or event management
  • Comprehensive knowledge of and a real passion for the Barossa and it’s food sector.
  • A working knowledge of WHS within the workplace.

Essential skills

They will have;

  • Excellent skills in verbal, electronic and written communication.
  • Proven ability and enthusiasm for developing and maintaining relationships with stall holders,vendors, customers and other members of the public.
  • Knowledge and understanding of financial processes.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently and prioritise workload.
  • Competent skills in the use of word, excel, email and social media.
  • Demonstrated ability to recognise and effectively handle situations of conflict and implement solutions that are mutually acceptable.
  • Ability to supervise and motivate staff and volunteers

Special Conditions

This individual will have;

  • Willingness to work regular Saturday markets.
  • A current and valid driver’s licence is essential.
  • A current police clearance or the willingness to apply for one.
  • Some additional after-hours work may be required, including attendance at Board meetings.

Barista Team Leader

Applications are sought for a Barista Team Leader at the Barossa Farmers Market.
Barista and supervisory skills are essential.
The role will require regular Saturday morning commitment with an early start, at the very busy coffee station at the weekly farmers market. 
Award rates of pay apply.

Barista positions available

We are looking for trained and experienced baristas.
Regular Saturday morning shifts available at the very busy coffee station at the weekly farmers market. 
Award rates of pay apply, including junior rates where applicable.
