Jersey Fresh
Jersey Fresh produce award-winning pouring cream, dollop cream, full and skim milk at their farm in Greenock. Visit the Jersey Fresh stall for a chance to meet Lisa, Adam, Kylie or Jack every Saturday morning at the Barossa Farmers Market.
They also offer bulk milk purchases and the option to bring the tub back and swap it for a refill. If you prefer your milk in a bottle, don’t forget to shake it before you pour – Jersey Fresh Milk is not homogenised, so the cream sits at the top making it taste like milk should.

Meet Jersey Fresh
Who: Lisa and sometimes Kylie
Where are you based? Greenock
A little history: Started by my parents, Jeff and Erica Kernich, the Carcoola Jersey Stud has been operating for over 40 years. In 2004 the Kernich family decided to bottle their milk and cream and distribute it under the name Jersey Fresh. Our herd are fed on a diet of hay, silage, grain and pellets and get to graze on fresh pasture in the spring. Our beautiful jersey cows are known for their milk, which is high in butterfat and protein. We are so proud of our girls and can trace their lineage back to the original Jerseys purchased back in 1976!
What products do you sell? Full cream milk, reduced fat milk, pure cream, pouring cream and Cold Broo iced coffee.
What are your most popular products? Full cream milk.
How did you come to be a farmer and/or producer? Jersey Fresh is a family business, started by my parents, Jeff and Erica.
Who encouraged and supported you to take the leap to start your business? Mum and Dad certainly nurtured my involvement in the business.
Who encouraged you to become a stallholder? Lots of really dedicated stallholders and shoppers.
Who/what inspires you? I am inspired by our next generation. If we can inspire our children to be passionate about agriculture and food production, then we have done our job!
What are you personally most well known for? There are some would say that I have the gift of the gab…..what can I say, if you’ve got talent, use it!
How do you celebrate your success? I think our family is very quiet in our achievements. We aren’t great as tooting our own horn!
Do you have a favourite recipe that you could share with us? Any recipe that ends with a dollop of pure cream is a good one, but cream scones is a hard one to beat!
Could you share something interesting about your business and produce? Our milk is sourced from our herd of pure Jersey cows, so we are already starting with an amazing product! All we do is pasteurise and package so that our customers can enjoy that creamy sweetness as well.
What is your favourite story from a customer about how they use your products? I love the customers who share their creations. My favourite Christmas present is Irish Cream made with our pouring cream. We recently had a customer purchase buckets of milk to experiment with cheesemaking. I was happy to be part of the quality assurance team and I can assure you it was quality!!
What advice do you share with your customers about your products? We love to share details of life on the farm and the connection between the cows diets and the final product.
