Meet Chocolate by Peter M

Who: Peter Mengler

Where are you based? Angaston

A little history: I have been involved in the food and wine industry for many years and moved into chocolate in 2001. Originally from the Barossa, I spent many years in Queensland and have just returned to the area and have settled in Angaston.

What products do you sell? Chocolate of course! I sell chocolate bars, hot chocolate made from real chocolate, chocolate to suit all diets and more chocolate!

What are your most popular products? The nutty nut chocolate bars and the brandy-raisin bar.

How did you come to be a producer? I have always been involved in the food industry, notably wine and cheese, however in 2001 I decided to specialise in chocolate.

Who encouraged you to become a stallholder? I did, being new back in the Barossa I felt it was a good way of getting the brand out there.

Who/what inspires you?  I am constantly inspired by my cacao growers and their beans.

What are you personally most well known for?  Chocolate!

How do you celebrate your success? Don’t ask!

Do you have a favourite recipe that you could share with us?  Yes, chocolate balsamic sauce makes duck and venison come alive.

Could you share something interesting about your business and produce?  I make my products right here in the Barossa, producing chocolate made from cocoa beans, roasted and refined in Angaston!

What advice do you share with your customers about your produce? Mainly, how to enjoy chocolate and hot chocolate from real chocolate!
