Help Desk at Barossa Farmers Market

How We Got Started

The Barossa Farmers Market opened its doors in 2002 and has been open almost every Saturday morning since. Based in the historic Yalumba Vintners shed, behind Vintners Restaurant in Angaston, the market offers the perfect environment for local producers to sell their products.

We have a history of being an incubator for businesses in the region, helping them to commence trading and supporting their growth. Businesses such as Maggie Beer Products, Saskia Beer, Careme Pastry and Relish the Barossa were once valued stallholders at the market.

Our Vision

The Barossa Farmers Market is at the heart of the Barossa. We deliver authentic products, sold by local, artisan producers to support ethical and sustainable regional prosperity.

Our Philosophy

We are a food only market with a few exceptions for potted plants, cut flowers, compost, wood and Christmas trees.
There are no resellers - our stallholders grow, produce, rear, create, bake or preserve the products they are selling.
Food provenance is important to the Barossa Farmers Market. We like to think we are creating a real connection between the food we eat and where it comes from.
Sustainability is also important to us. Where possible we promote sustainable practices and prioritise biodynamic, organic and minimal spray produce, (see our sustainability page).
We support the process of organic certification. Only producers who have achieved an organic certification can use the term 'organic'. However, terms such as 'minimal spray', 'grown using organic methods' or 'spray free' are an acceptable alternative.
Genetically engineered foods, including animals knowingly raised on GE feed are not sold at our market.
